Due to the problems in the Beta one release that did not get caught until after it went live, we've quickly updated and released Beta two in order to fix this. Please redownload the files, so that they can be tested properly.
We've finally gotten to the Beta stage of the release, meaning we're just cleaning up a few of the minor bugs left reported and then pushing ahead to release. We don't have a complete list of content for the release just yet, but we'll have one soon. In the meantime, a partial list can be found there.
Unfortunately, anyone using the Beta will notice something: The Tome of Battle classes have been turned off. The problems that we've run into with the debugging of the classes are bad, worse than previously expected, and we may have hit the limit on the PRC compiler. Until we can get that fixed, we're going to leave those classes in, but turned off.
We're extremely sorry to disappoint people in this way, and I'm personally very unhappy about it, but four different members have taken a look at it, and none have been able to get it fixed. If anyone wishes to assist, we'd need someone with skill in C++, and preferably writing compiler.
There is still a ton of content left to enjoy, including the Warlock and Dragonfire Adept base classes, along with the Dragon Shaman and six other dragon-based classes, more or less completing the "Dragon Magic" set of Alternate Magic Systems. There's also a fair shake of psionic content, with four prestige classes for that system as well.
We'll try and have 3.2 out to you in a full release very shortly. In the meantime, it can be gotten from the PRC's Alpha/Beta download page.
We've got two releases for you today, as both the PRC and the PRG Alphas are out. For the PRC Alpha, we've added a lot of bug fixes, mainly to the Warlock and the Tome of Battle, as we continue to focus on cleaning the two largest segments of our release. Almost all Invocations are now usable, and we've actually fixed it on the Tome of Battle to the point that maneuvers are ready and usable as well, but unfortunately, we did that after the release came out. We've also squashed the bug that was causing underflow errors when attempting to use a melee or ranged touch attack, so the Warlock's Eldritch Blast is now free for use. We're likely to have another Alpha soon as the ToB changes are worked in and a few more issues ironed out.
The PRG Alpha continues the process of merging in LadyDesire's and others existing NWN2 content with the large systems that the PRC has to offer. Much of the work this time was spent laying the ground for the ToB and Dragonfire Adept to make it over from the PRC release to the PRG, so expectant NWN2 players will soon be getting the latest the PRC has to offer. We're still looking at the PRC Module Updater, and how we can bring that to NWN2 to make installation and use as easy as it can be. Until then, everything will need to be added manually.
I hope you enjoy the new Alpha.
And it has taken a long time, mostly because of the time spent working on Tome of Battle, and the Warlock. As is usually the case, we have a ton of content for you in this Alpha release, including a complete Warlock, the Deepstone Sentinel ToB prestige class, and another pile of races, courtesy of Fox. We also have all but 8 maneuvers coded and into the game, and they should all be functional, with one big delay: recovery mechanics are partially coded, but not complete, so at the moment, the only way to recover mechanics is to nap. Still, we'd much appreciate it if you could give the maneuver learning/using process a good bit of testing.
With the Warlock, we have all of the invocations completed, as well as the class itself, making it a 100% complete class. For those fans out there who enjoy the Warlock and it's all day every day abilities, we're also going to add several of the Warlock prestige classes, such as Eldritch Theurge and Hellfire Warlock.
Finally, we've added the Viletooth Lizardfolk, Silverbrow Human, Stonehunter Gnome, Fireblood Dwarvf, Glimmerskin Halfling, and Forestlord Elf, all from Dragon Magic, and all Dragon-touched variants of the normal races. We'll have the description of all of these posted shortly in the Races forum.
We hope you enjoy all of these new additions.
This update is very late in coming, mostly due to laziness on the part of those who were supposed to update the material. However, it shall hopefully make up for it depth what it lost in timeliness.
The very first thing to clear out of the way is the changes and results pending from the IRC Chat we held some little time ago. The logs of the chat are posted here, and are colorized for your reading benefit.
For those of you who have not yet delved into the logs, or seen the information posted in the forums, the PRC has announced that it will not be coming to NWN2, and will remain developing NWN1, until such time as another game offers a better prospective field for us to work within. However, a second group, headed by LadyDesire and Kaedrin, has taken over development of the PRC's content for NWN2, and have titled themselves the Player Resource Group, or PRG. They have already added two other members, and are looking to acquire more, in order to assist in getting the PRG first release out and into the wild. They have already released an early alpha, with all content updated to include the NWN2 MotB expansion. You can get the alpha right here. Please post any issues with it in our Beta Testing forum.
The two groups will continue to remain in close proximity, and assist one another with the development of their respective content. Both the PRC and the PRG will be headquartered here, and we will be offering them forums, and have already granted them access to our CVS and development areas, so we anticipate working closely with them in the future.
We'd like to offer them the best of luck with their pursuits.
